Nugget is a Short-snouted Seahorse (Hippocampus hippocampus), one of Britain’s most remarkable marine residents.
Seahorses are masters of camouflage, often disappearing completely amongst seaweed and seagrass. I feel so privileged to have spotted Nugget, as I'd actually got close to look at the anemone before noticing his tiny silhouette swaying gently alongside it.
Finding a seahorse in the wild felt like discovering a hidden treasure. For a few minutes, I simply watched in awe as Nugget drifted along side the anemone, how incredible our planet is that we have these mystical little seahorses living beneath the surface.
