Meet Sharkira
Sharkira is a Small-spotted Catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula), I nick-named her for the way she moved, those hips don't lie!
I was swimming through a kelp Chanel when Sharkira appeared out of nowhere, weaving effortlessly towards me, she swam right up to me nearly before turning elegantly away. She twisted and danced around me for several minutes as I watched starstruck. Every movement perfectly synced with the kelp surges. It caused me to spin and swoop to match the energy and happiness of the moment.
When people think of sharks, they often imagine speed, power and danger. Sharkira was none of those things. She was playful, elegant and completely in rhythm with her ocean world.
